Photoshop CS (code named "Dark Matter") is the eighth major version of Adobe Photoshop, released in October 2003. With a redesigned brush engine and other core changes, CS is a drastically different program from version 7.0 which preceded it. The "CS" stands for "Creative Suite", an Adobe initiative to bundle its various programs into coherent packages, unifying their interfaces, and adding interoperability between them.
